Battery replacement

Mobile car battery replacement

Your car won't start, so the battery comes to it. A local tech drives out with the right battery and the tools, tests first, and has you running again in under an hour on most cars.

Why the battery should come to you

The usual dead-battery routine is a jump from a neighbor, a nervous drive to a parts store with the engine running, and an install in the parking lot if someone is free to do it. If the car won't take a jump, it's a tow. Mobile car battery replacement cuts out every step of that. The battery, the tester and the tech come to the car, wherever it stopped.

It's also the safer way to do it. Modern batteries can be tucked under seats, in trunks or behind panels, some cars need the new battery registered with their computer, and a dead battery sometimes isn't the real problem. A tech who does batteries all day handles all of that on the spot.

+ 01  Where we work

Anywhere the car can be safely reached

Battery jobs need only a few feet of clear space around the hood or trunk. Common spots:

  • Home driveways, garages and street parking
  • Apartment and condo lots, including covered parking with normal clearance
  • Office parks, hospital lots and campus parking during your workday
  • Store, gym and airport lots
  • The shoulder or a safe pull-off, if the car stopped on the road

+ 02  What you need to do

Three things that make it quick

Have your year, make and model ready when you call, plus the engine size if you know it; that's how the tech brings the right battery. Tell them exactly where the car is, which entrance to use and whether it's in a garage with a height limit. And if you can, have the keys handy so the tech can test the starter and charging system after the install.

That's it. You don't need to be standing at the car for the whole job, and many people stay at their desk or in the house while it's done.

+ 03  Testing

A battery only when the battery is the problem

Before swapping anything, the tech runs a battery test and checks alternator output. If the battery is fine and the alternator isn't charging, you hear that first, and the alternator itself is a job for Mobile Auto Repair. If the old battery is merely run down from lights left on, a charge may be all it needs, and the tech will say so.

Questions about mobile car battery replacement

Is mobile battery replacement more expensive than a store?

Usually not by much, and the price is quoted when you call. You skip the tow or the jump, the time off work, and the risk of buying a battery when the alternator was the real problem.

Can you replace a battery in a parking garage?

Usually, yes. Battery jobs need little room. Share the garage name, level and space, and mention any height limit when you call.

Do I need to be there?

Someone needs to give the tech access to the car and the keys. After that, many customers wait inside while the work is done.

What if my car is completely dead and won't unlock?

That's common. Most key fobs hide a physical key, and the tech can reach most batteries once the hood or trunk is open. Tell them when you call.
