Battery replacement at work

Your car died in the office lot. Stay at your desk; the battery comes to the car and is installed before your next meeting.

No half day off for a battery

Finding out your battery is dead at the end of a workday is miserable, and finding out at the start of one is worse. Instead of leaving work for a store or waiting for a tow, have the battery replaced where the car is parked. The tech brings the right battery, tests the car and installs it while you work.

Office parks, hospital and campus lots and most parking garages work fine. Battery jobs need little space and no lift.

What to tell the tech

  • The building address and which lot or garage
  • Level, row or space number, and any height limit
  • Whether there's a gate, badge reader or visitor check-in
  • Where to meet you for the keys, and a number to text

Questions about battery replacement at work

Can you work in a parking garage?

Usually, yes. Mention the height limit and level. Garages with strict rules might ask that work happen in a surface lot, and the car can often be jumped and moved.

Do I need to come outside?

Just long enough to hand over the keys and show the car, if that. Many people meet the tech in the lobby.

Can several coworkers get batteries the same day?

Ask your local tech. Several cars at one address is often easy to schedule together.
